I purchased all three of the Cassaforte Chronicles for my daughter. I stole them from her bedside and read them one after the other. Mr. Briceland's books are a lovely combination of the familiar and unexpected twists. These stories remind me of Joan Aiken's long running series that began with _The Wolves of Willoughby Chase_. I certainly hope that Mr. Briceland's continues to write books set in Cassforte. More please.Product details

I loved the first book, and this book is centered on Petro, Risa's brother. I picked up the third book because I love the magic and discovery of magic in the first book. This book has no magic, it's about a boy growing up and taking leadership roles. And his crush on a girl, which seemed too forced. Of course, not everyone can have the special powers that Risa had, but for the genre and the preceding books, one would hope there would be some magic, but there was little to none.
Having read the first two books... I was excited to start the third. I'm happy to report I have not been disappointed!
